Near “Eremo delle Carceri” leave the main road (strada provinciale 251 di San Benedetto) and go up the Fosso delle Carceri.
From here you get to the Refuge of Vallonica (1059 m), where you can see experimental works with medicinal plants by the Institute of Botany, Faculty of Agriculture of Perugia. Continue to Sasso Piano (1125m) and then to Fosso Rosceto until the Mortaro Refuge (1284m).

Here, next to the source you can use a small shelter with a fireplace. You’re now at an altitude of 775 m. Walk through path 56 and the path and the lake Sasso-Rosso you get to Poggio Caselle. Continue among scented broom, juniper, honeysuckle and olive trees and you’ll finally get to “Fonte Bulgarelle”, at the entrance of Spello.
